Adjective Comparative Superlative
1. One-syllable adjectives:
fast faster the fastest
nice nicer the nicest
2. Adjectives with ending in -y:
funny funnier the funniest
easy easier the easiest
3. Adjectives with two or more syllables:
serious more serious the most serious
popular more popular the most popular
4. Irregular adjectives:
bad worse the worst
good better the best
far further the furthest
5. Adjectives which end in one consonant preceded by one vowel double the consonant:
big bigger the biggest
Examples:
Comparatives in sentences:
- Elephants are bigger than tigers.
- Dolphins are more intelligent than dogs.
Superlatives in sentences:
- Steve isthe most intelligent student in his class.
- The Vistula is the longest river in Poland.
- Tokio is one of the biggest cities in the world.
